These twenty somethings had never heard of Sam Goody nor a boxed set. I'm older yes, but damn not that old. But then I started to think. I stopped working at Sam Goody in 2000, shortly before they went out of business. If my co workers are 22 that means they were 7 in 2000. DAYUM!!!!! So, there I was feeling incredibly old, ancient, dated, and decrepit staring into the eyes of two co workers who will never know the feeling you had walking into a record store. They'll never know what is was like watching someone purchase 10 albums bundled into one box. That whole era that was the 90's, my era is old school. Crazy.
So, as I sit here typing I can't help but smile and feel grateful for my memories of those days. There was nothing like ripping open a CD and then reading the liner notes as you bobbed your head to the base. I recall working in Sam Goody and selling a Frank Sinatra boxed set...my former workers will recall that big brown box that was like 1000.00. Ahhhh the memories. Anyway, I guess i'll go searching through my itunes and put together a 90's compilation now. How does a mix of Wu Tang, Nirvana, Mariah, Nas, Biggie, Oasis, and Smashing Pumpkins sound?? Haha
