Years later when I moved in with my Nana, I realized first hand that she still subscribed to resting on Sunday. She went to church and did no housework. She forbade me to clean that day too and on some occasions I would go to church with her. Not often but occasionally.
So what does all of this have to do with anything? Well if you read the verse in the picture that accompanies this post and followed the same upbringing as me you were kind of shocked too. I never thought of Sunday as being a day created for man. I always looked at it as a day created for God. The truth of the matter is though that everyday is Gods. On that day though, we are supposed to take time for ourselves. We are supposed to regroup and recommit ourselves to our God and our faith. Sundays, if I am to understand this verse correctly is a gift from God. Ideally we should spend it praising him and remembering our blessings in whatever capacity that means. For some it's congregating with like minded individuals in church. For others it's spending time with family. For some it's relaxing and refreshing from a week of work. Then there are the others who have to work on Sunday to provide for themselves and or their family's. Whatever Sunday is for you, remember that it is a gift and to do with it what you choose while all the while remembering your blessings.
