Now, I’m not sitting on a soap box with a violin insinuating that she and I have the most perfect relationship and that we've never experienced trials and tribulations. A few of my previous blog entries can attest to that being not true. The fact of the matter is that she and I have gotten stronger and have the relationship we do because we've overcome obstacles. It also helps that we live states away and are not on top of each other everyday. Whoever said absence make the heart grow fonder was absolutely correct. I speak to my mom on the phone about 3-4 days a week and I know that those phone calls are as much important to her, as they are to me. So, on the nights where I’m really tired or she’s really tired yet don’t feel like talking sometimes we stay on the line because we know that in those moments it’s about letting the other know that no matter what even if it’s a simple phone call I’m here.
Anyway, what started out as a facebook post has turned into a blog post haha. I suppose, knowing that my mom is driving back to North Carolina in the morning just made me think about how blessed and lucky I was to have her. If you have a mom who’s still alive, or someone in your life who means everything to you, let them know how much you love them. In many instances, tomorrow may not come.
Goodnight with Love,
Tamieka
