In life we are given the opportunity to help others all the time. There are numerous occasions were clicking the button is just something you won't do. Something so easy and something that costs nothing yet something many won't do. There are many reasons why one may choose not to join others in signing a petition that doesn't harm but only helps. As I sit back and see that I have 89 signatures supporting my petition to get insurance companies to provide coverage to hearing aids, I cannot help but think about those that didn't sign. I know I should be grateful and concentrate on the ones that did!! I am beyond gratefu for them...for you!!! But what of my cousins and friends that ignored the pleas I sent directly to them? What of those that clicked on this link and read my blog but chose not to sign? What goes through the mind of those that choose not to stand up with me? Is it me? Am I the reason that they won't lend their name? Did I have an adverse effect on them at one point during our interactions or lack there of? These are questions that I ask, but know I will not get an answer to. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that by standing up to insurance companies WE have made a statement! We have said that all of us deserve the same type of coverage!! Thank you, to all of you that chose to take a stand with me!! A FREE stand that may one day have a huge effect on how and what the insurance companies choose to cover. With your help I am making sure that they at least HEAR us!!! If you haven't already signed please do so at >>>>> https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b

Over 43 million people have been medically classified as deaf or hard of hearing. I am one of those them. Of those 43 million, less than 1% are covered for hearing aids through insurance. Don't you think there's something wrong with that fact? Today I am imploring you to to stand up with me to the Goliath's in the Insurance industry and demand hearing aid coverage. US citizens are covered for other similar ailments but not hearing aids and it's time. In 2013, we should be a country that doesn't show bias but rather see's all medical conditions as worthy of coverage. Take a stand with me and sign my pledge https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b As I prepare for another day at my part time job, I am reminded of the blessings I and those in my life have. I will be working a half day today so that I may attend the wedding of a long time friend to the love of his life and my new friend. It's funny how sometimes we may feel like giving up because what we desire out of life isn't making itself present. I have felt that way many times and I know my friend the groom has too. We have had countless conversations over the years about love alluding us but with patience and an open heart today he will be rewarded with the love that he so diligently and patiently waited for. What does this have to do with hearing aids???? Nothing haha!! But like my friend I am willing to be patient in love AND in waiting to see Insurance Companies stand up and cover me and my sisters and brothers in the world of silence. Please sign my petition won't you? https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b It's often easy to sit on the sidelines and watch life pass us by. We're all guilty of watching others make life altering decisions that we felt didn't have a direct influence on our lives. The truth of the matter is that "We The People" means all of us. I may be the one afflicted with hearing loss but we all are on the losing side when insurance companies decide that my medical condition isn't worthy of coverage. First it's hearing aids, then it's eye glasses. I'm asking you to join me in banding together to bring about change. Will you join me?? Please #LIKESHARESIGN visit my change.org petition at https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans have profound hearing loss? That's more than 48 million people. I am one of those!! Hearing loss is a medical condition that can be easily treated with hearing aids. Unfortunately for many, that is not an option because of the cost. With pricing ranging between 1500-3500 per aid, many simply cannot afford the "luxury" of hearing. To make matters more complicated, Insurance companies do not provide coverage for most of their clients. When I first got my hearing aids, they cost $400, and they were covered by my mothers insurance. According to her, that was the one and only time. During subsequent years, the price rapidly grew and my mom was forced to enter into payment plans and to borrow against her retirement in order to fund the hearing aids. This is a reality for many people today. I say we all take a STAND and DEMAND coverage for hearing aids. By banding together and putting our hands in the circle we can begin to effect change. Please support me on my mission to get hearing aids covered by insurance companies. Sign my change.org petition at https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b and let's show our government and our insurance companies that we believe hearing should be covered too. #LIKESHARESIGN As I grow older and slowly approach the lordy lordy look who's forty mark, I've found that my priorities have shifted. I'm deeply concerned about the choices that big business and our government will have on the little people. I'm not political, I just feel that we pay so much in taxes, social security and medicaid that it's only fair that we be given services that we pay for. Especially when we can't afford those said services. Hearing aids have plateaued to over $5000 per set. That is simply ludicrous. But at the end of the day, manufacturers have the right to charge whatever price they want. With that being said, if we pay a premium for healthcare Hearing Aids should be covered within that premium. Many healthcare companies cover fertility, adoption, glasses, braces, operations, the list goes on and on. But why not hearing aids. Please support me in spreading the word that Hearing Aids should be covered by insurance companies. If it's possible to hear with assisted devices, that Insurance companies should cover that expense. You can read about my struggle and what let me to this blog here. And if you would sign my petition by visiting https://t.co/dCKWC8XR3b it would mean sooo much to me. Enjoy your Thursday and when you hear cars driving by, your kids talking, the refrigerator door open, the music playing or the leaves blowing remember me and how important hearing is and should be for all!! #LIKESHARESIGN |
